  1. The SI cycle is a pure thermochemical water splitting process consisting of three steps. It has been proposed as a way to supply hydrogen for a hydrogen-based economy.
  2. 5G roll out:
    1. Challenges: roll out will be selected areas where demand will justify the capital expenditure.
    2. Compared to 2G,3G,4G, sufficient preparatory work has not been undertaken for launching of 5G services.
    3. In the coming 5-6 years, 5G will have been rolled out to cover 20 per cent of the world population, which is most likely to exclude a major portion of India.
    4. India is going to miss on 5G opportunities, unless time-bound action is taken in core areas where Governmental intervention is required.
  3. Initiatives/Programs of DST
    1. Vigyan Jyoti Programme-addresses underrepresentation of women in certain areas of STEM. Initially it included 50 JNVs, now 50 more JNVs
    2. Women Scientists Scheme to help women with career-break
    3. Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence in Women Universities (CURIE) programme: for improving RnD infrastructure.
    4. Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions (GATI) program in pilot mode.
    5. AI labs in women universities to foster AI innovations and to prepare skilled manpower for AI based jobs.
